Our glossy surface finishes get their impressive designs from an aluminum layer only 0.02 µm thin and a minimal amount of coating material (~ 2.4 g/m²). This makes them 6,000 times thinner than a human hair!
Transfer coatings from LEONHARD KURZ are proven to contain only raw materials that are free of volatile, ozone-depleting halogenated hydrocarbons, cadmium, lead, mercury or hexavalent chromium. This means that no special requirements or restrictions need to be taken into account for processing.
The minimal decorative layer (≤ 1% by weight) of our transfer finishes has been shown to have no effect on the composting of recyclable printed products. Using our LUXOR® MTS 220 as an example, we were able to prove that embellished cartons with such a coating are still compostable.
Products with a KURZ decoration can be recycled without difficulty. Sorting systems assign decorated papers and cartons (up to 100 g/m²) to the high-quality deinking grade. Hot stamping and cold transfer decorations are almost completely separated from cellulose fibers in the deinking process and receive top marks from INGEDE.
PET carriers are used to precisely transfer the wafer-thin layers of varnish to the end product. After the KURZ finish has been applied, the PET carrier is removed and further processed thanks to our innovative RECOSYS® 2.0 recycling system. This is how high-quality rPET is produced, which can be used for numerous applications, such as technical textiles. This is how you shape the future of your products in an environmentally conscious, resource-saving and innovative way!
